Jodie

(Lancefield)

My name is Jodie. I have been an early childhood educator since 2009. Over that time, I completed my diploma in early childhood services. I also worked as a commercial cook. In my service, you would be welcomed into a relaxed environment where children can settle in and feel at home. Over the years, we have had many different animals join us, including lizards, quail, rabbits, chickens and guinea pigs. As these beautiful animals come and go, children have the chance to observe, care for and learn about them. I have a strong belief in letting children be. Today’s society is very busy and rushed, so within my service I like to give children the time to take part in what they want to do and learn at their own pace. I also embed social behaviours, respect and sustainability across our art and craft, cooking and daily care of our environment. This is always done at an age appropriate level for the children in care. We also connect with our local community through walks, visits to the local supermarket, the bank, Lancefield Park and the Eco Park. We join with the wider family day care community once a week for playgroup, which is run by the coordination unit. This gives children a larger group to play with if they need more than three other children around them. I also have a strong connection with an educator in Romsey, and we regularly meet for play dates at parks and each other’s homes. If you think I sound like the educator for you, please feel free to reach out to Our Village Family Day Care and they will put you in contact with me. Looking forward to meeting you soon.
